How much
funding is available?
Originally, £100 million was to be made available for up
to 900 new homes to be built for social housing rent
with no minimum or maximum scheme size. In addition to
this funding, the Government has now added a further

Future, 29th June 2009), bringing the total funding for
this initiative to £340 million for 2009/10 - 2010/11.
The investment pot will not be regionally split.
What are the timescales involved for the £340 million?

Who can bid?
The
Newbuild Challenge Fund
is for open to bids from

are either approved
investment partners already, or are new bidders.

wished, use its ALMO to undertake the development
work.
Is
there a 'sustainable homes' requirement?
The minimum level homes need to be produced to is Level
3 of the Code For Sustainable Homes. However,
bidders have been strongly encouraged to achieve Level 4
