Social Housing Databases

Our range of Social Housing databases provide you with the latest information on the social housing sector across the UK.  The level of detail contained within these databases means that they can be used equally for sales, marketing, forecasting and strategic business planning purposes.

We have six database packages available which cover the social housing sector. Below is a brief overview of each package: for more comprehensive information please select from the tabs on the left. To find out exactly how Focal Research can benefit your company, please contact us so that we can review your requirements and recommend which of our databases will be the most appropriate for you.

Main Social Housing Database

This covers the refurbishment, maintenance and development programmes of all social landlords.  Extensive details are provided for the Decent Homes Programme, including housing stock and below Decent Homes figures, stock refurbishment options, ongoing maintenance arrangements and progress towards the Decent Homes deadline, for each landlord.  The database also details the current 2008-2011 National Affordable Housing Programme, which will see the Government investing £8.4 billion in the development of new homes over the next 3 years.

This database now includes as standard:

Main Social Housing Plus Database

This alternative version of the Main Social Housing Database provides additional information for those clients who need to know more about landlord performance and vacant housing stock.

This database allows you to evaluate the performance of Local Authorities (LAs), Arms Length Management Organisations (ALMOs) and Housing Associations (HAs) based upon inspections carried out by the Audit Commission.  We provide information on recommendations for improvement, star ratings and when the next inspection is planned.

This database now includes as standard:

Social Housing Summary Database

This is a smaller and less detailed version of our Main database.  It provides the necessary contacts and Group structures for both LAs and HAs.  It also tracks which of the four stock refurbishment options each LA is pursuing and provides summary information on the 2008-2011 National Affordable Housing Programme.

Our recent Decent Homes and Maintenance Contract Research is available as an optional extra with this database.

New Build/Regeneration Database

This database provides a clear picture of the social housing new build programme, enabling you to pinpoint the best development opportunities for your business.  It  includes extensive details of the 2008-11 National Affordable Housing Programme (down to site level) as well as the other regeneration and new build initiatives now being pursued.  The database also encompasses strategic information on the geographical location of housing growth plans, along with information on the sustainability agenda.

New for 2010 - Social Housing Contractor/Contract Analysis Tool

The Social Housing Contractor/Contract Analysis Tool analyses research we have conducted into the contractors who have successfully gained contracts, from social landlords, for Decent Homes refurbishment work, or ongoing maintenance (broken down by planned and responsive).  The analysis covers all English stock owning local authorities and ALMOs, and every English major Housing Association or Group with more than 10,000 stock, allowing you to produce pie charts, bar charts, graphs or simple spreadsheets analysing the number and type of contracts each company has gained.

Social Housing Strategy Tool

This very simple pushbutton tool is unlike any of the other databases we produce for the Social Housing sector.  Offering a top-level strategic overview, it facilitates a detailed analysis of your current, planned and future regions which will assist in the effective planning of resources for both sales and marketing activities.

Builders & Contractors Database

This provides information on building contractors who regularly carry out refurbishment, maintenance and new build work in the social housing sector.  Further information on specific contract leads and partnering arrangements with social housing landlords can be sorted either according to the type of contract or the contractor actually carrying out the works.

All of the databases we produce can be used for Strategic Business Planning at board level encompassing Sales, Marketing and Business Development. In addition they all share the following features:

  • Comprehensive, relevant and accurate data that is researched and constantly updated by ourselves to ensure the information our clients see is as current as possible.

  • The ability to be tailored to suit your individual company requirements.  For example, reports can be viewed via your own sales regions and you can add further contacts if required.

  • Fully automated with ‘locked in’ reports that can be pulled off at the touch of a button, enabling even those with the most basic computer skills to use it effectively.

  • Installation on as many machines within your organisation as you wish.  Individuals will need to sign up to our annual User Agreement, gaining access to a Getting Started pack containing a unique user name and password and our Support / Helpdesk.

  • As long as each computer running the database has Windows ’98 or more recent versions installed, no other licences or additional software will be required.

  • 9am – 5pm weekday support/helpdesk (excluding holiday periods) providing assistance with database contents, understanding of terminology, IT/technical queries and use of mailing lists.
