Ongoing Maintenance Contracts Research - LAs & ALMOs

Ongoing Maintenance Contracts:

Every stock Owning LA and ALMO in England Covered

We have contacted every stock owning Local Authority and every Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) in England, asking each to help us complete an extensive questionnaire covering ongoing maintenance works currently taking place.

This has provided an accurate, up-to-date and complete picture of ongoing social housing maintenance works, that we will continue to update on a regular basis, ensuring this remains the case.

Similar information is also available for Scotland and Wales.

We Asked Every Organisation…

  • Do you have your own Direct Labour Organisation (DLO)?

  • Do you outsource work to private contractors?

  • Or do you use a combination of both?

  • Who provides your responsive maintenance service?

  • Who provides your planned maintenance service?

  • Where are these contractors and/or your DLO based?

  • Who is the person in charge of the DLO and where are they based?

  • Approximately how many people are employed within the DLO?

For all organisations that manage over 10,000 stock, and have their own DLO we also asked:

  • Do you have your own stores and where are they based?

        Or, if this is not the case;

  • Who provides this service and where are the stores based?

The Results…

Our ongoing maintenance research is now available, and has been included in the Main Social Housing and Main Social Housing Plus Databases. It can also be purchased as an optional "bolt on" to the Social Housing Summary Database.

We have included a statistical overview of the types of organisation carrying out ongoing maintenance below.  Please note, that information included in the Main Social Housing and Main Social Housing Plus Databases, is considerably more extensive than the data displayed, covering individual Local authorities and ALMOs.

What type of organisations are carrying out the ongoing maintenance works?

What size are the DLOs by approximate number of employees?
