Main Social Housing

The Main social housing database is our ‘all singing, all dancing’ version containing everything you need to know about the social housing sector. It also comes with a training session and social housing bulletins

Refurbishment
Local authorities are currently undertaking a staggering amount of work in order to meet the 2010 Decent Homes Standard. The database provides an overview of this work including:

  • Background details for each local authority, arms length management organisation (ALMO) and registered social landlord (RSL) including the amount of stock owned, location and who to contact.
  • Narrative information regarding each option available to local authorities to bring their homes up to the standard and the rules that govern them. Options include setting up an ALMO, transferring stock to an RSL and using existing funding.
  • Details of the option(s) chosen by each local authority on how they will refurbish their stock.

  • A review of their progress to date. For example 47% of local authorities have now successfully completed a whole stock transfer and therefore no longer own any stock.
All of the above information will enable you to formulate business plans and direct sales/marketing activities.

New build
There are unprecedented opportunities in the social housing new build sector. The Housing Corporation's three-year National Affordable Housing Programme (2008-2011) is worth £8.4 billion. This is expected to produce 45,000 social homes a year by 2010-2011.

The previous two-year programme (2006-2008) aimed to build around 60,000 new homes over two years, using approximately £3.9 billion of grant funding.

The database details the 4,768 projects that made up the 2006-2008 programme, which can be reviewed by RSL, type of dwelling, location etc. so you can initially assess the wider market and then identify more detailed priorities.

The above information is just a brief overview of the database. For further details of the content and how it can be of benefit please contact us. We can review your requirements and recommend which of our databases will be the most appropriate for you.
